Keia Is Pissed

This was a vector drawing both as a birthday present to someone and as an exercise in making one of those 'unconventional' vector drawings I see all over the place these days. Now it took waaay too long to make this, but as I went it got easier and I was able to get more and more out of fewer and fewer shapes as I went on. In the end it was a much needed lesson.

This was done entirely in Adobe Illustrator, which is uncommon I guess for this sort of drawing, as most people use coral draw or macromedia whatever which makes everything look like a big fuzzy mess most of the time. Outside of some of the top artists these types of pictures tend to end up a blurry shitstorm of bleeding colors, or it they look like a vector auto trace with thousands of solid shapes that make it look like it were cut out of construction paper. Both of which are ugly as hell and confusing, if you are going to make a vector why ruin the best part: crisp smooth edges and lines?

So I had several goals, number one which was to avoid those two abominations I just mentioned. Number two to make it close to photo realism as I could without breaking my third and most important rule, being an instantly identifiable vector drawing. I love the vector look, and I did not want people (artists at least) to be suprised at it being a vector. Cause if I got that then I wasted my time, and could have done the same thing much quicker and easier on paper or photoshop. I don't think I hit any of these targets other than the last one, which is a given.

My computer wasn't able to continue past what you see though, because it was taking nearly 10 minutes every time I saved. So yeah, I used way too many objects or whatever, which wouldn't have happened if I was better at this, which is why I did it, so mission accomplished.
